1. Try To Quit Smoking

One of the ways through which you can improve the health of your brain is by quitting smoking. You need to understand that smoking is not just a bad habit, it also has detrimental effects on your overall health.

According to the study published in one of the Archives of Internal Medicine, the number of smokers has been increased drastically. It was revealed that there are more than twenty thousand smokers, who started smoking from 1979 to 2008. And some of them even smoked more than two packs of cigarettes within a day which increased their chances of becoming a victim of dementia as they grew older. This proved out to be true even when researchers took care of the other factors that could have explained the results, for example, race, educational level, diabetes, substance abuse, heart disease, and age. Those people who consumed a half pack of cigarettes within a day had a 44 percent increased risk of becoming a victim of dementia.

The unbelievable part was that even those who consumed less than that were at a 37 percent risk of developing dementia. The good part was that even those who used to smoke but had stopped, had no risk of developing dementia and their brain was functioning in a normal way. Therefore, if you want to improve the health of your brain, you have to quit smoking.

2. Maintain Good Relationships

One of the ways through which you can improve the health of your brain is by having a plethora of good relationships. A very renowned psychologist Daniel Wegner developed a unique concept in 1985 about a particular memory known as a transactive memory that is the kind of memory that we practice in all kinds of relationships.

It is basically a form of memory that makes us become an expert in one particular kind of information and having the sole responsibility for it. For example, your partner may be great at remembering the names and faces of his friends but unable to remember their interests and ambitions.

This shows that couples work as a team where one of them is expert at something, while the other at something else. And each partner does struggle without the support of another partner because some parts of information are remembered by one partner while other chunks of information are remembered by another partner. Therefore, each partner benefits from a relationship. Therefore, if you want to improve the health of your brain and boost up your memory, you have to have a good relationship.

3. Think Positive

One of the ways through which you can improve the health of your brain is by thinking positively. You must be aware of a very well-known effect that is a part of the psychology of education- Pygmalion effect, named after an infamous Greek myth Pygmalion, where teachers expect their students to always do their best at school professional assignment writers, and these expectations make a student strive harder so that they can come up to the expectations.

Psychologists refer to this effect as the Rosenthal-Jacobsen, since it was found by these two psychologists in 1968. This research implies that if we set high goals for ourselves and we have this firm confidence within us that we will achieve all these goals, then there is nothing that can stop us from achieving these goals. But if children are constantly made felt that they cannot do anything, then they literally do nothing. It shows that positive thinking has a very deep impact on our brain.

According to a study carried out by a social psychologist Arronson and colleagues in 2001, when it was taught to the educationally disadvantaged community that it is possible to become more intelligent, they started showing improvements in their mathematical abilities contrary to those students who were not taught or motivated this way.
