It is common that most IQ scores go from 40 to 140. Normal IQ ranges from 85 to 115. In this way, an IQ of 126 is clearly great.

There are many individuals with a higher score than you, yet rest guaranteed that there are significantly a bigger number of individuals with a lower score than 126. Isn't it? At least, that is what the curve of normal distribution tells us about IQ.

An IQ score of 126, could be derived from an IQ test, if you had taken this reliably, no doubt you performed superior to anything 95% of the population on one test.

Should you jubilate?
No. Forget what your IQ score told you about being superior to 95% of the population. If you were tested on musical ability, cooking ability, physical wellness, scientific thinking, ability in taking care of substantial social issues, you would most likely score under 126. Why? IQ tests appear to measure logical thinking.

Presently, while logic predicts IQ, it does a poor job in testing one's wisdom and overall intelligence.

Figuratively, an IQ score of 126 also implies your performance on that test is very great - higher than the mean. Regardless of whether that implies your real intelligence or not.

  1. This is perfect, thank you. I had my IQ tested when I was 19 and I scored 126. they told me that was "superior". Ok, so I'm smart, I guess. That doesn't make me a genius or predict success in any line of work or endeavor.

I really like the assessment on this page, it's realistic and very likely reality. Kudos!
